Electronics That Make the Swap Work

Modern Mustangs are packed with integrated systems-drive modes, launch control, rev‑matching, stability aids, reverse camera, and more-that all "talk" to the transmission. Swapping in a Magnum XL without the right electronics often means warning lights, lost features, or hacked‑together fixes. Digi-Gear solves that problem with a purpose‑built, P‑n‑P kit designed specifically for 2019+ V8 Mustangs. Our solution bridges the gap between your car's factory electronics and the new transmission, so the car behaves the way it should.

True Plug-and-Play Engineering

The heart of our product is a clean, engineered interface that plugs directly into your existing harness—no splicing, no guesswork, no cobbled wiring. We’ve done the homework so you don’t have to. With Digi-Gear installed, your Mustang can run a Magnum XL cleanly, allowing the Engine and Body Control Modules to stay happy, dash functions to behave properly, and key features to remain intact. It’s designed by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, with an emphasis on reliability and ease of installation.

What else do I need?

There are a few things that you will need to successfully perform the Digi-Gear integration into your car. The first is a tune from a reliable Mustang tuner, this is a new and advanced system. Digi-Gear has
partnered exclusively with Shoemaker Performance, they have the Digi-Gear combination dialed in.

You will also need a reverse lockout solenoid bypass kit. This allows a more easy transition into Reverse, than trying to overcome the substantial resistance provided by the Reverse Lockout Solenoid. Digi-Gear will have a small module you can buy to power and activate the Reverse Lockout Solenoid if you desire this option over a Reverse Lockout Bypass. We expect this to arrive in late 2026.

How FFRC Works

FFRC works by determining shifter position based on a magnetic field sensor that reports actual shifter position within ten thousandths of an inch. This information is reported to your EMS in the form of a frequency and duty cycle for each shifter axis. X, or side to side motion, and Y or back and forth motion and both are reported accurately and seamlessly, giving you and your tuner the opportunity to make shift based changes or commands based on real time shifter position information.

Right now, the sensor is only available for Tremec Magnum XL, but other applications are in the pipeline. Please reach out to engineering@digi-gear.com with your needs and to find out if a Digi-Gear sensor for your application is in the works, or to request a sensor for your application.

How Does The 4GS Work?

The controller converts shifter position into precise knowledge of what the shifter is doing, whether you're leaving a gear, passing through neutral, or entering a new gear — and whether it's an upshift or a downshift. Four output wires ground at specific moments during the shift sequence to tell the EMS what to do.

What Are the Grounds and How Are They Used?

The Four Ground Outputs

The four ground outputs are wirelessly programmed by you and/or the tuner using a Windows® computer with Bluetooth® capability to trigger precisely which, when, and for how long you need them active. Datalogging is available to monitor results and look for efficiency.
